Tips and Tricks for Learning Conversational Spanish

Tips and Tricks for Learning Conversational Spanish The Best Way to Learn Conversational Spanish ChaptersBe Aware of your Problem Areas and Learn Practical SpanishDon’t Get Stuck on Pronunciation ErrorsConcentrate on Practical Spanish Grammar to Help Express yourselfDon’t Panic and Concentrate when Speaking SpanishPractical Spanish: How Spanish Classes Can Help you LearnSpanish is a magnificent language that is spoken by around 440 million native speakers across the world. We all know that the Spanish language is quite close to Italian and even French. But as a general rule, it is one of the easiest to learn for English speakers, too. This is because English and Spanish share many words, and they also have some common roots in terms of aspects of grammar. All the same, training in this new language cannot be done in a day: it requires time, personal investment, devotion, and basic knowledge of Spanish grammar, syntax, spelling, and everyday vocabulary. But the most important thing in learning to speak Spanish, is to be able express yourself verbally (and on paper). After all, S panish is an amazing and dynamic “living” language, so students must “live” it through conversations and interaction. But how can you succeed at holding a conversation in Spanish with a native speaker when you don’t know much, when your vocabulary is limited, and when you are nervous at the prospect of making mistakes? There are certain things that you will need to know to improve your Spanish skills, but once you do, you can use our  5 tricks that will help you get out of those sticky situations, and improve your conversational Spanish!Being capable of communicating in Spanish with a native speaker is essential in your language learning. To be able to make an appointment, or simply chat with a friend, you’ll need a basic Spanish vocabulary in order to “wing it.”It’s helpful to have some key phrases and expressions that you can use in your spoken Spanish, so you don’t always need to carry your flashcards or English-Spanish dictionary around!Be your own Spanish teac her! Becoming fluent in Spanish is a whole different ballgame, but learning a few key phrases will be enough to communicate and converse in Castilian. You can do it while having fun and even without taking the traditional Spanish course route.Don’t forget that the most important thing is not to say things perfectly, but to communicate your message. By showing your limits while asking for help, you can be assured to always learn something new in Spanish. And your speaking partner will be reassured to see what your shortcomings are and especially that you recognise them: it will thus be a pleasure to help you understand and translate certain words.First Speak in the Present TenseOften, when you learn a foreign language like Spanish, you may hear words that seem familiar but that don’t resemble to anything you’ve learned. This often happens with verbs and the explication is simple: the tense has changed.Your speaking partner may be speaking in the past tense, referring to a hypoth etical situation in the conditional, or inviting you to meet in the future. When you study Spanish, one of the training basics is to know the different tenses of conjugation of regular and irregular verbs. So as to not make mistakes while speaking, to make yourself understood and especially not to mix up different conjugations, always speak in the present. Even if your syntax it is totally wrong, the important thing is that you are getting your point across. To learn to use verb tenses, you can:Take classes with a Spanish teacher who will give you verb lists with the different tenses to learn by heart.Create your own verb lists to learn with tables of the important tenses (past simple, imperfect, future, conditional and present)Also create vocabulary lists  with Spanish phrases integrating each word into concrete situations. The advantage of making these word lists yourself is that you’ll retain them easier and you will know to use them in correct sentence structure.Don’t Panic and Concentrate when Speaking SpanishIf you’ve already done the last step and the results were not great, why not slow down your “express” Spanish training.Take a deep break, don’t give in to panic and calm yourself. When you have to translate a word or expression, when you have to understand what your speaking partner is telling you but you get stuck, remind yourself to do one thing: go back to your Spanish training basics! There is always a way to fall back on your feet by trying to understand and dissect the word or expression that you heard.Learn to Express yourself with ConfidenceAlthough difficult, Spanish training is never impossible. On the contrary, look at is as a challenge to overcome. When you can’t find the “correct” words or sentence structure to use in a speaking situation, find a way to explain yourself by imitating something, or miming a situation.Be direct: ask your speaking partner what he or she is saying, ask him or her to speak slower or articulate bet ter.Stand behind what you are saying, even if there are mistakes, and assert it with confidence.  There’s a high chance you’ll be corrected, but you’ll make good progress in your aim to learn Spanish fast!Practical Spanish: How Spanish Classes Can Help you LearnThere are a number of different ways to learn Spanish. You can learn Spanish online, on your own, or you could even start learning Spanish by watching Spanish films. However, if your level is really not sufficient enough to follow a conversation in Spanish, it might be beneficial to take classes with an experienced language instructor.Whether they are online Spanish classes, night classes in an institute or private lessons with an independent instructor (or even Free Spanish lessons), there is always a professional to help you learn to improve your Spanish.Take a Spanish class now! With your teacher, you will learn to speak and write in Spanish. This training will allow you become skilled at conversing fluidly in a new la nguage. Why take a Spanish class? Here are some benefits:The opportunity to speak and immerse yourself completely in a Spanish-speaking setting, with your professor alone or in a group with other students, which will help your oral comprehension. You have the right to make mistakes: Spanish courses will teach you to modify your vocabulary and express yourself so that you will be understood. The teacher is a professional; he or she is an educator with the expertise to help you improve. And if you like this idea in principal, but you would like a more individual approach, then why find a Superprof to help you become bilingual in English and Spanish…?

Because, in the UK, there is such an enormous number of languages being spoken. From the European languages such as French, Polish, and Italian to those that come from further afield â€" such as Punjabi, Gujarati, and Chinese â€" we are actually surrounded by linguistic diversity in the UK. It’s such a shame that many of us don’t make enough of i t. This is despite being the third most widely spoken language in the world â€" and despite the UK being in the ten countries with the highest number of Hindi speakers. The UK only has 45,000 native speakers of Hindi. However, the whopping fo ur hundred million Hindi speakers in India alone accounts for the fact that more people speak Hindi than any other language than English and Mandarin Chinese.Check out Hindi lessons across the UK. Learn to read Hindi! What is Hindustani? There are actually many more people who speak Urdu in the UK than Hindi. And, whilst this might sound like a completely irrelevant detail, it really isn’t.Rather, Urdu and Hindi are actually pretty much the same language. People who speak Hindi can understand people who speak Urdu â€" because Hindi and Urdu are two sides of the same coin. That coin is known as Hindustani â€" an Indo-Aryan language that derives from the ancient language of Sanskrit. This explains why Hindi and Urdu are mutually intelligible. But what is the difference? The important bit, really, is the alphabet â€" or what we might call the script. Where Urdu uses the same written form that is used by Persian, the Hindi alphabet uses the Devanagari script, which is used by another 120 languages. So, where Hindi is one of the official languages of India â€" alongside English â€" Urdu is the official language of Pakistan. However, between them, the two languages have about eight hun dred million native speakers.Find Hindi classes in London!Hindi and Urdu in the UKIf Hindi speakers number just over forty thousand in the UK, there are 270,000 Urdu speakers across the country. That’s thanks to the big Pakistani community in the UK â€" the biggest in Europe. One fifth of these are to be found in Yorkshire, where they make up three percent of the population of Leeds. This makes Yorkshire’s biggest city an absolutely great place to study Urdu â€" and definitely not a bad place to learn Hindi either. The trouble for people who want to learn Hindi is that the British Indian community don’t actually tend to speak Hindi. Rather, they speak Gujarati, Punjabi, or, indeed, Urdu. You won’t find any trouble in finding yourself a Hindi teacher at all however â€" no matter where you are in the UK. And, here, we are going to show you the best places in which to look in Leeds. But first…Have a look at Hindi lessons in Manchester! Can you read this Hindi writing? Why Learn to Speak Hindi? We’ve said then that the UK has a lot more speakers of Urdu than of Hindi. However, speakers of Hindustani make up the second largest community of immigrant language speakers in the country. So, why should we learn to speak Hindi? In the UK, if we ever get moving and learn a second language at all, we tend to stay pretty close to home. We learn French, we learn Spanish, we learn Italian. Yet, there isn’t any good reason why this might be the case. For business, for travel, and for the sheer number of speakers of different languages that there are, it may well make more sense to venture outside Europe to satisfy our language-learning needs. And Hindi is one of the best languages to learn for a whole number of reasons.Firstly, there’s business. India is one of the fastest growing economies on the planet, with a market of over a billion people. Whilst not all of these speak Hindi, it is much more common than that other official language of India, English. If you want to work for a global company, learning Hindi might be a great way to do it.Secondly, there’s Indian culture. Language and culture have always been closely linked â€" and learning Hindi opens the door to all sorts of different opportunities for you. Imagine watching Bollywood movies in the original language or reading Hindi literature. There is such a lot to gain from a language beyond the sheer mechanics of the language itself. Finally, there’s the ‘why not?’ factor. Of all the languages in the world, why not learn Hindi? It is a beautiful language that will open your world to new people and new opportunities â€" and you would be daft not to take it.Check out Hindi classes in Glasgow. The Best Places for Hindi (and Urdu) Language Courses in LeedsSo, let’s take a look at the best opportunities for you to learn Hindi in Leeds.Whether it is online language lessons you are after or whether you prefer to learn a new language face-to-face wi th a native speaker, whether you prefer group lessons or one-to-one, there are plenty of opportunities available for you in your city.Let’s take a look at some of the best options out there.Find Private Hindi Tuition in Leeds with SuperprofFirst up, there’s Superprof. As an online tutoring platform, we connect students across the world with tutors who are qualified to teach all sorts of different subjects. Want to Learn Spanish 5 Options Broken Down By Cost

Want to Learn Spanish 5 Options Broken Down By Cost Suzy S. You probably already know the benefits of learning Spanish, from getting ahead in the job market to networking with new friends and more! But as with any skill, language mastery takes time and often money to achieve. If youre wondering how much it costs to learn Spanish, there isnt one hard-set answer it really depends on how youre going about your learning.  These days, the Internet makes it easy to find resources to even teach yourself Spanish, without needing a ton of expensive books or software. If youre on-the-go, free Spanish-learning apps can be a fun way to fit learning into your day. And when youre ready to get serious about your studies, the advent of online lesson platforms  makes finding a tutor within your budget easier than ever. So, whats the right option for you and your budget? Continue reading to learn  about five popular options to help you teach yourself Spanish. Software The modern version of a workbook is language learning software. While there are many available out there, the most well-known option is Rosetta Stone. Language software is a great option if you want to set your schedule sitting down whenever you have  some spare time however, the biggest drawback is the lack of personal attention. You wont be able to double check of your pronunciation with the software, so youll need to rely on your own ear to determine whether youre getting the syntax and pronunciation correct. This kind of software can cost you from $30 for a budget option up to a few hundred dollars for a comprehensive study of Spanish. Example  option: Rosetta Stone costs$499 for a 36-month beginner program. Books This language-learning option was  around well before computers, the Internet, or smartphones. A well-crafted book will allow  you to learn a language without purchasing multiple resources and building a considerable expense, and similar to software, you can go at  your own pace. Keep in mind, though, that  books share the same drawbacks as software as well. Most books will have quizzes or tests at the end of each chapter, but its difficult to really gauge your progress outside of that.  On top of this, you wont have the audio that software provides   typically just a  phonetic spelling that youll need to decipher. Books can be as inexpensive as $5 secondhand, or over $100 for a textbook. Example option:  Easy Spanish Step-By-Step  is a top seller on Amazon, and the paperback version can cost less than $8. Mobile Apps Nowadays, theres an app for everything including tons of apps  for learning Spanish. Language-learning apps are quite similar to software, but they are obviously much more portable. Its an easy option for quick study during your commute, on your breaks, or anywhere else that you bring your smartphone or tablet. In addition to being portable, many of these apps are free. On the drawback side, however keep in mind that these apps typically set your path for you and assume your goals. Because of this, you might get stuck at a certain level, even if what you  really want (or need) to learn is introduced much later on. Mobile apps may  be free and ad-supported, or require a monthly subscription of $5 up to $40 or even more. Example option: Download TakeLessons Live for free to access live, online classes in a variety of languages. Online  Learning Websites Dont want to install software or download an app? Another learning method comes in the form of websites or tutorial videos. It shares the same drawbacks as apps and software, in that theyre not targeted to your specific goals.  While there are certainly some great sites out there, theres also a handful of not-so-great options ones that rely on memorization and  repetition, instead of real-life scenarios for learning. Online resources can also be free and ad-supported, or require a monthly subscription of $10 to $50 or more. Example options:  Check out LearnWithOliver, or our other recommendations for Spanish-learning websites for adults, or  free Spanish-learning websites for kids. Tutoring Whether you seek an online tutor that you meet over video chat, or an in-person tutor that you meet with regularly, tutors are easily the most bang-for-your-buck. You have complete control over the pace of your learning (your tutor will monitor progress and only proceed when you have mastered the current Spanish segment), instantaneous feedback on pronunciation errors, and the ability to ask questions about anything that youre having trouble with. As  youre weighing options and considering  how much a tutor will cost, its important to realize how much more youre getting for the expense. Tutors with TakeLessons set their own rates, which gives you a wide variety of options. You can typically find tutors for as little as $15 per hour  up to  $100 per hour, depending on experience. Example option: A native Spanish speaker and TakeLessons Student Favorite, Georgina L. teaches beginners, intermediate, and  advanced students at  $30 per hour. So there you have it several options for learning Spanish, all at your fingertips! Best of luck with your studies, and let us know if you need any help getting started.  Going the tutoring route? Learning French 5 Ways a Tutor Can Help

Learning French 5 Ways a Tutor Can Help Suzy S. Are you looking for a little help learning French? French tutor  Carol Beth L.  explains how tutoring can help Learning French â€" or any new language â€" can be difficult, especially if you have little time or are not sure how to go about this gargantuan task. Hiring a tutor can help a lot in a number of ways, and can offer support in a variety of situations. Here are a few ways in which a tutor can help: 1) Pacing Suppose you do not have time to take a class and must study French on your own. Many people in this situation have trouble finding a consistent pace for themselves. Their jobs and social lives get in the way, and pretty soon, learning a language has fallen by the wayside. Even if you do not meet with your tutor every day, by meeting with your tutor weekly, they can help you to make goals for the week to keep you on track. If you are taking a class but are having trouble keeping up, your tutor may also be able to help you. 2) Study skills Most of us study a language in middle and high school, yet Americans are notorious worldwide for being monolingual. If you have never truly mastered another foreign language, or if you have but it was as a child absorbing it by osmosis, it may be more difficult to truly master another language as a teenager or adult. Your tutor can guide you with assignments that will help you 3) Speaking, listening, and conversational practice Unless you have roommates, family, friends, or colleagues who speak French well and are willing to speak with or around you on a regular basis, it can be difficult to practice and correct mistakes in your speaking. Recordings and films can help enormously with listening comprehension, accent, and pronunciation, but even this lacks the interactivity and spontaneity of a real-life conversation with someone. Reading and writing are important too, but can be practiced on your own more easily. 4) French-specific learning techniques and games Tutors are there because they know a lot about the language and (hopefully) a lot about how to learn the language. They may have songs, games, or other activities that will make learning French easier and more fun. 5) French resources In addition to the previous advantages listed, your French tutor, with their French-specific knowledge, is likely to know about where to find certain resources you may find useful. This includes French conversation groups, French meet-ups, local French films, French restaurants, French websites, French literature (at your level), French penpals, and more. They wont know everything, but they will probably know things you dont. Even if they dont know, they may have an easier time figuring out where to look. Do any of these sound helpful? If so, you may wish to consider finding a French tutor to help you on your journey to linguistic mastery.   Carol Beth L. teaches  French lessons in San Francisco, CA. She has her Masters in French language education from the Sorbonne University in Paris and has been teaching since 2009.  Learn more about Carol Beth here! Interested in Private Lessons?
